Three Sports You Didn’t Know Were in the Summer Olympics
August 5, 2016
The world awaits as the 2016 Olympic Games are set to officially get underway tomorrow at 6:00 PM CT on NBC from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil!
We all know about the classic events sure to draw the most attention like gymnastics, track & field, and swimming. But did you know there are nearly 40 different events that will make up the games?
With so much action set to take place over the next few weeks, here are three events you might not know about but are just as competitive.
Olympic Trampoline Gymnastics
Imagine the artistry of floor gymnastics gracefully performed in the air. Olympics Trampoline Gymnastics offers some of the most spectacular acrobats from around the world. Your kids will enjoy watching this event as they dream what’s possible on their backyard trampoline in ArrowBrooke! Contestants earn points for difficulty, execution and flight time.
Equestrian has been a part of the Summer Olympics since the year 1900 and still going strong to this day. The three events include the beauty of dressage, the skill necessary for jumping, and the sheer impressiveness of an equestrian triathlon.
If you’re looking for 60-minutes of non-stop action, this is your definitely your sport. Two teams of seven pass the ball hand-to-hand and are trying to score as many points as possible – by throwing the ball into the other team’s goal. The team that accomplishes this the most times wins. The score usually exceeds 20 points for each side so there is no shortage of entertainment and celebration!
Now that the Olympics are set to kickoff, there’s only more thing to say: LET’S GO USA!
