Collin College is now in the process of seeking accreditation for the nursing degree with the Southern Association of College and Schools Commissions on Colleges, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Texas Board of Nursing and a national accreditation commission for nursing.
“A four-year nursing program at Collin College will help alleviate the shortage of nurses in the region,” said Michael Wiggins, senior vice president and administrator at Children’s Medical Center Plano. “At Children’s Health, we currently provide clinical experience for Collin College nursing students and are continually impressed with the quality of the nurses who graduate from the program. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Collin College.”
In 2011, Collin College’s associate degree program in nursing was the first program in Texas to be designated by the National League for Nursing as a Center of Excellence in nursing education.
